Rising Stories #50: Jamie Ivey

Hooray, it’s my 50th episode of Rising Stories Podcast! I can’t tell you how excited I am that I have made it this far and can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this journey has been. I want to thank you, the listener, for hanging in there with me through all of these episodes and I cannot wait for you all to hear the next fifty!

My special guest today is a lady who is a fellow podcaster who encouraged me to launch my own podcast. In 2014 Jamie Ivey began her podcast called The Happy Hour, which is now one of the most popular Christian podcasts out there. She is a wife and a mom of four living in Austin, Texas. Jamie is now doing speaking engagements all across the country, and I hear that she is also writing a book.

Jamie and I talk about the choices we have as women who run businesses, and the line between what is ministry and what is business. We also talk about what we just love about podcasting and our not-so-favorite things about podcasting.

Rising Stories #48: Victoria Kimble

My guest today is an author who writes books for the middle years. So if you have a son or daughter in middle school, this interview would be a great one to share with them. Victoria Kimble has written a four-book series called Choir Girls. On this podcast she shares her own story about the loneliest time in her life and what she turned to during that season. She also talks about who inspired her to write and what she loves about having lived a “vanilla life.” She’ll explain what that means in the show. I also find out that Victoria has another creative side I didn’t know about.

“Victoria spent her childhood reading and making friends with the characters in her favorite books. She never grew out of that. After many years of wondering, she decided it was time to write the stories she had always dreamed of writing. She hopes that her stories model an active Christian lifestyle, while feeding the insatiable sense of wonder and adventure that everyone has deep inside.”

They decided to share these stories and their own stories with other women who needed to be freed, meeting these women where they are to help them move out of their broken stories and into an authentic community. They began as an online community and then started a blog where women face those hard questions and become vulnerable to walk dauntlessly in grace.
