Beach Fashion : Packing

As I sat on the sandy beaches of our vacation spot this week, I began to think about what I would wear out to dinner tonight.  Which led me to think about how many clothes I brought to the beach.  It was not very much, but that was on purpose. I'd like to share with you what I actually packed.

I use to pack an outfit a day for our beach stay of 7 days. And I would bring tons of clothes that usually didn't leave the suitcase. Now I have almost got it down to a science. It has taken me years to get here, so please bear with me for a bit. Here is my list of what I packed this week.

Beach Wear:

*2 bathing suits

*beach cover up

*an easy flowing summer skirt that goes with every shirt/blouse I pack.  (I have a grey skirt this year).

*a shirt/blouse for every day

* a wrinkle free black dress that I can throw on at the last-minute and look dressed up

*a light jacket/cardigan for cool evenings or extra cold restaurants

*pair of jean shorts

*pair of black or white shorts (or a good pair of jeans if the weather is cooler in the evening.)

*** I decide which color will go with everything either black or brown, then I choose my clothes that match that color.  This helps me pick out shoes, handbag, jewelry (If I bring any) jackets/cardigans hats, and belts.  As you can see from my list, I chose black as my color. All tops go well with my chosen color too.

*a pair of fancy sandals that can dress up anything.

*beach flip-flops in my chosen color

*a causal pair of sandals to wear around town

*a pair of closed toed walking shoes that will go well with shorts or your skirt

That is it, except for undergarments and toiletries.  I can usually make lots of outfits from these clothing items.  When you spend most of the day in your bathing suit, you don't need a lot of clothes and you can usually get two days wear out of them, since you have only worn them for a few hours. So there you have it.  Please share what goes into your vacation suitcase that you can't live without.
